Our mission is to introduce every child in the UK (no matter their socio-economic background) to live classical music via experiences where they feel welcome, and where they can enjoy and engage with the music.

Since 2015 MishMash Productions has reached thousands of children across the UK. Alongside performing in theatres and concert venues (such as The Gulbenkian, Kings Place, The Albany, The SAGE Gateshead, Theatr Clwyd, and the Big Bang Festival Dublin), we tour our productions to schools and libraries using pop-up sets to transform familiar spaces. It is through this work, in addition to training and advocacy programmes, that we fulfil our mission to engage and inspire children and young people with high quality live music.

In 2021, MishMash Productions travelled to Norway representing the UK at the prestigious international YAMSession Festival; toured our production Smile across the UK; delivered R&D with partners including the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Scottish Ensemble and Chineke! Foundation; delivered a training programme for 9 professional musicians; and premiered a new production String in collaboration with the Gildas String Quartet.

During 2022 we premiered new co-productions with the Royal Northern Sinfonia; and Scottish Ensemble; supported London Rhymes with a live version of their award-winning project; produced a participatory project in Sunderland celebrating the history of Holy Trinity Church and the East End; delivered more exciting training opportunities for musicians; piloted a hybrid video/live performance in partnership with the LEADD:NG project at the University of Nottingham; launched our Musician in Residence scheme in 7 schools in the Midlands and North East; and toured our production Strange Creatures across the UK!

We are delighted that in April 2023 we joined the Arts Council England National Portfolio as a regularly funded organisation.
