Come along on a magical, musical journey as 5 friends follow the trail of the mysterious blue beetle in the quest for a lost voice. 

Created by MishMash Productions in 2015 in association with Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Aurora Orchestra and with the support of Arts Council England, PRS for Music Foundation, the Hinrichsen Foundation, Nottingham Music Hub, Nottinghamshire Music Hub and Round Hill Primary School.

This beautiful production uses magical theatrical chamber music to gently explore childhood and belonging and was inspired by the book Beegu written and illustrated by Alexis Deacon. Featuring fabulous music for Violin, Viola and Cello as well as singing, drumming and lots of fun and games, Strange Creatures is a musical adventure to delight children and their families alike.

For children aged 4 - 7 and their families/schools.

Made in partnership with Nottingham Library Service in 2019 Strange Creatures toured libraries across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in May/June 2019 as part of the Nottingham Lakeside Arts Wheee! Festival on tour. The full tour planned for Autumn 2020 didn’t take place due to the pandemic and was rescheduled for Autumn 2022. Details of the 2022 team are below:
